A Cuppa With Guy | Behind the Scenes at Evotech
Did you hear the joke about the Guy who walked into an aftersales motorcycle parts factory? He got all revved up!
And that’s what happened when Guy Martin set foot into Evotech Performance HQ last week. An old friend to Evotech for well over 20 years, supporting projects such as his 2016 Wall of Death challenge, it’s been a few years since fellow Lincolnshireman Guy has popped by. So, with cuppa in hand, Evotech Directors Chris, Nick and Dan took Guy for a walk around Evotech Performance to see just what has changed since his last visit.
Stopping off at the design, production, packaging and dispatch areas of the Evotech headquarters in Alford, Lincolnshire, Guy is treated to a full-on, technical introduction to the many state-of-the-art production machines on site. From the Modula storage facility, FDM and SLS printers, to 5-axis simultaneous milling and sliding head lathes, the EP directors show just how they have earned their engineers wings to produce the renowned quality Evotech motorcycle parts. Getting hands on mid-production with simple chain lubricators and the highly complex design for the MT-07 tail tidy, Evotech Performance’s constant drive to improve is on display.
In Guy’s words, he is ‘blown away’ with the attention to detail in production quality of the EP parts, investment in machinery and innovation with new technologies.
And the best bit: it’s all in Lincolnshire! ‘You wouldn’t believe this came out of deepest, darkest Lincolnshire’ says Guy, clutching a prototype Evotech Performance logo mug. Which pretty much sums up what a lot of our customers think too. That’ll be a few myths busted, then. Time for another brew.
