The often-used phrase “a change is as good as a rest” has never sat well within Evotech Performance. The reason is that when it comes to redesigning existing products, usually because we improve production efficiency and reduce waste, there is no such thing as “rest” for any of us.
When we decide to instigate a product revamp, it usually involves discussion (a lot), hours of computational design, several litres of Yorkshire Tea, prototyping, testing, material sourcing, jig design and manufacture, time calculations and so much more. And all projects are done in accordance with ISO 9001 regulatory standards and procedures, which involves paperwork. So yes, in short, we don’t do things by halves and there’s definitely no rest involved.
To be honest, we were reluctant to update the Evotech Brake & Clutch Lever Sets (short and folding variety) because of their extreme popularity – approx. 70k+ pairs sold. But we knew they could be better in terms of how they feel to be used and be styled to set them apart from myriad of look-a-likes.
The first area to come under review was the actual shape of the lever blade. The new Evotech Clutch and Brake Levers are now anatomically superior in that they feature deep radiused edges along each lever length for improved grip comfort, and vastly improved feel and style. CNC-machined clevis pins have replaced “nut & bolt” fasteners and are stainless steel – as are the retaining clips and, where supplied, piston adjustment screw/barrel and tension retaining springs. The six-way lever span adjusters are also revised to be a more streamlined fit.
There was much internal debate about supplying the Evotech Clutch and Brake Lever Sets in various anodised colours. We settled again for traditional ‘black’ finish with ‘red’ finger span adjusters across the board for no other reason than this colour arrangement blends into the bike’s overall aesthetics. However, given that so many riders prefer coloured options, we have extended the colour options of the replacement Evo Lever span adjusters – available from our Evotech Accessories section on the website. Choices are: Green, Silver, Blue, Black, Gold, Orange, Titanium. Oh, and each set is supplied with a conversion jig to make the swap over easy.
Evotech Brake and Clutch Lever sets are available in Short and Folding versions, and the latest Evotech Folding Clutch & Short Brake Lever Set. The Short “two-finger” levers now also feature “snap points” near the ball ends just in case they hit a raised kerb or similar. Levers and bracket mount unions feature Evotech Performance brand logos.
